Salamander Drumkit

As with the salamander grand piano, this has only been properly tested on linuxsampler but it should work with other sample players that can load .sfz, it probably works better as it's not even half the size of the salamander piano. It doesn't have many velocity layers, but instead many samples per velocity, in an attempt to get a more authentic sound when programming. The closed-hat has no less than 20 samples per velocity... only two velocity layers tho, so that makes 40 in total.. I've actually built the drumkit myself(in 2009) It's built out of birch staves and has _very_ thick shells(couldn't lathe the insides) It also features an unusual one of a kind ropetuning system,  the 12" tomtom is a prototype of another kind tho tuning system.. The boundled README file has some additional info about the kit..

I originally started this kit with an idea to make it "multisourced". The idea was to have a separate .sfz for each soundsource or microphone rather.. So you would've had one called "OH", one "snare" and "kick" etc.. then when the snare was triggered it would play back the overhead samples and the close mic separately. With the intention of being able to blend the sound from the OH's and the close mics as you saw fit.. Basicly like mixing an actual recording of a drumkit.. The problem that arose with this aproach was that the samples aren't allways 100% accurately triggered so the were alot of phasing issues, especially when doing fast rolls.. Anyway, I guess simple, premixed stereo is good enough :P

The hihat pedal is controlled with cc64 messages, eg sustain.. it has 7 semi-open layers for better hihat articulations! with two five-sample velocity layers within each semi-open layer.

All samples are normalized and have no effects, they're very dry(garage recorded) so you most likely want to add some reverb and room emulation, like in the sample below..

The "share-alike" condition in the license only applies if you modify the samples themselves or create new sample libraries with them. Produced Music and other non-sample-library works can be licensed at will http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/

Be ware of an issue I noticed/realized after I released it. I haven't yet got around to fix this, might just do it one day tho! In the meantime, Rosea Grammastola has made fade outs on all kick samples where the issue is mostly noticable, unpack and replace!

Do crazy things with it!

A rough picture of the actual kit! the sampled 12" rack tom isn't in the picture and the cymbal setup is probably alot different... but that's the place where it was recorded :)
